Introduction
Since the early 2000s, renewable energy has been one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. In fact, according to some estimates by Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF), renewable energy is expected to account for as much as 40 percent of all new power generation capacity over the next two decades. The increase in demand for renewables professionals has been driven by several factors: an increased focus on environmental sustainability; more cost-competitive technologies; and changes in government regulations that promote clean energy development over fossil fuels. However, this growth has presented challenges for companies trying to find qualified workers with experience working with these technologies. Because of this shortage of talent, many businesses have had to turn away job applicants or delay projects because they don't have enough people on staff who can build wind turbines or design solar panels.
Renewables talent is in short supply.
Renewables talent is in short supply. The industry is growing rapidly, and it's estimated that over the next decade more than 500,000 jobs will be created worldwide to support renewables development. But the demand for skilled workers is outpacing the supply of qualified candidates by a wide margin--a problem exacerbated by the fact that there aren't enough people with the right skills to fill these jobs.
The growth of this industry creates a huge opportunity for businesses: they can capitalize on this growth by hiring people who have experience with renewable energy technologies or who are passionate about working in the field.
