Renewable Power: REPT's Green Leap into Steel's Greener Future

Recently, the 30.09MW/60.18MWh user-side energy storage power station project of Eastern Special Steel, supported by REPT BATTERO , was officially connected to the grid! This project provides an example of green energy transition in the steel industry.


Nowadays, as the global climate crisis is getting more and more serious, all countries are actively taking measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The green transformation of the iron and steel industry is of great significance to achieving the goal of global carbon neutrality. In this context, the green transformation of the iron and steel industry has seen companies adopt advanced energy-saving technologies and environmentally friendly facilities to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions.

Eastern Special Steel Co., Ltd. is an enterprise mainly engaged in ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry. It strategically plans to build a steel conglomerate based on transformation and upgrading, with high-quality bars as its speciality products.

As the energy structure of the iron and steel industry is highly dependent on coal, the adjustment of the energy structure may bring the following challenges:

  • Grid stability and power supply reliability are affected, placing higher demands on load management and power dispatch in the grid;
  • The application of new technologies and techniques may place new demands on the power system, requiring a more stable power supply as well as higher power quality.


This 30MW/60MWh energy storage plant project was born in response to the demand for green transformation in the steel industry.

The project adopts string architecture, where each cluster containing a management module. This O&M method improves the balancing and charging/discharging efficiency of the battery packs.

At the same time, the highly efficient thermal management system, with good temperature balance, extends the battery life for a long time, stabilises the system operation and effectively reduces the grid shock.

The successful grid connection of this 30MW/60MWh energy storage plant is a snapshot of the green transformation of the steel industry. Driven by Carbon Neutraility target, the transformation of steel industry is accelerating. In the future, REPT BATTERO will continue its efforts to provide strong support for the realisation of global Carbon Neutrality.
