Director at Renaissance | Cyber Security | Encryption Devices | Business Continuity
After one year as an online event, Renaissance is delighted to bring the Cyber Expo & Conference Ireland back as an in-person event in 2022. Not only is the event returning, but it's coming back with a bang by moving to a bigger venue and increasing the number of business streams.
Cyber Expo & Conference Ireland 2022 is open to business decision-makers, IT & cybersecurity professionals working for public and private sector organisations, and anyone working for an IT sector supplier with a presence in the Ireland marketplace. The event provides the perfect opportunity for users of security solutions and executive decision-makers responsible for planning and budgeting to talk directly to cybersecurity solution providers.

What is Cyber Expo & Conference Ireland?
Cyber Expo & Conference Ireland is a forum and expo floor event hosted by Renaissance, Ireland's largest IT security distributor. First held in 2017, the Cyber Expo & Conference has become a staple on the annual Ireland IT events calendar.
The Cyber Expo & Conference has two main components.
·??????????Cyber Expo Ireland - a place to meet experts, see available cybersecurity solutions and chat to security vendors in one place on the expo floor — includes Vendors, Value Added Resellers (VARs), Security Experts, and users from industry who will be able to mingle and chat about all things security and IT.
·??????????CyberConIreland - expert-led presentations and breakout sessions in which industry experts outline the current landscape in a particular area and talk about how cybersecurity protections can be put in place and maintained. There will be eight streams in this year's conference, and there are more details on the topics below.
Sign up to attend the event on the dedicated Eventbrite page at https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/cyber-expo-conference-ireland-2022-tickets-190941570377
Read on for an overview of the eight cybersecurity streams that will focus on specific topics relevant to the current threat landscape.
?
Stream 1 - Cybersecurity in Healthcare
2021 was a turbulent year for the Irish Healthcare system. A highly publicised outage due to a ransom aware attack from the Conti Ransomware gang made headlines for all the wrong reasons.
This stream will feature experts in cybersecurity and healthcare systems, and it will include -
·??????????A discussion on the general state of cybersecurity in healthcare in Ireland and internationally.
·??????????What are the major threats?
·??????????Why is healthcare specifically vulnerable and targeted?
·??????????How to mitigate threats in affordable ways and manage them within the constraints in the healthcare sector.
If you are involved in cybersecurity in healthcare or are a decision-maker in the healthcare sector, this stream will be of interest.?

Stream 2 - Always On Computing
The business and public sector landscape we all operate in relies on IT systems that must be available 24/7/365. When they are not vital services stop, and this has serious consequences.
IT systems are subject to many threats from cybercriminals and attackers. They are also subject to component failures and misconfigurations that can lead to downtime.
This stream will discuss how to keep your essential IT services available around the clock on every day of the year.
?
Stream 3 - Application Security
Most IT infrastructure and endpoint devices function to allow end-users to access applications. These applications could be web-based, mobile apps on smartphones and tablets, or traditional desktop apps running on PCs.

This landscape of applications provides a tempting target for attackers and protecting them and the data they process is essential.
This stream will focus on how organisations can protect their applications and data from the bad actors who are always looking for new ways to attack.
?
Stream 4 - Business Email Compromise
Business Email Compromise (BEC) is a targeted form of phishing attack focused on executives or others with authority in an organisation. The term spear-phishing is often used for targeted attacks of this type, although not all spear-phishing is a BEC attack.
A BEC attack attempts to trick senior staff into damaging activities like transferring money or sensitive information to cybercriminals. Fake but very realistic emails and other social engineering-based messaging gets used in BEC attacks.
A successful BEC attack against an organisation often leads to severe ramifications for the attacked individual and the whole organisation. The damage caused can be financial, reputational, or regulatory if any data breach violates regulations like GDPR or industry guidelines like PCI DSS.
This stream will cover what you need to do to protect your organisation from BEC attacks.
?
Stream 5 - Identity & Rights Management
Securing user logins and other identity information is core to good cybersecurity posture and hygiene. If login details are compromised, they are often used for attack planning or sold to others on the dark web. This increases the threat landscape that an organisation faces.
This stream will discuss all things Identity & Rights Management related, including Identity & Access Management (IAM), Privileged Access Management (PAM), multi-factor authentication, and much more.
Stream 6 - Managed Security
Cybersecurity is hard. To do it correctly requires experts who can focus their entire time on the threat landscape and how to defend systems. Building a team to do this is difficult for many reasons, and is often beyond the ability of all but the largest organisations.
Managed Service Security Providers (MSSPs) are ideal for delivering this cybersecurity function in small, medium, and even some large organisations. MSSPs have the resources to attract and retain the best cybersecurity experts and then make them available to multiple organisations via managed service agreements with predictable costs.
This stream will discuss how managed security can be an asset for your organisation.
?
Stream 7 - Operational Technology (OT) Cybersecurity
Operational technology controls the built environment that we all rely on every day. From power generation and distribution, through city infrastructure & transport services, to drinking & wastewater systems, and many more, OT provides the digital interface between the physical and the cyber realms.
OT technology also plays a significant role in manufacturing businesses where it bridges the gap between the manufacturing machinery used and general IT systems.
This stream will cover how to protect this vital infrastructure across the public and the private sectors.
?
Stream 8 - Securing a Microsoft Environment
Microsoft solutions still have a significant footprint in organisations of all sizes. The mix of solutions in use has shifted from the traditional on-premise Exchange Servers, Active Directory, and Office on endpoint devices to having more Cloud components like Microsoft 365 for email, productivity, and collaboration online.
This shift has made managing and securing a Microsoft based environment more complex. Many organisations now find they have a hybrid mix of traditional and cloud-based Microsoft solutions linked by Active Directory federation for identity management.
This stream will cover all things Microsoft related and discuss how you can ensure that your deployment is secure, no matter what mix of solutions you have in place.
?
Conclusion
The eight streams outlined above will contain some topics relevant to all IT executives and other business decision-makers. When coupled with the opportunities to chat with industry experts and vendors on the Expo floor, Cyber Expo & Conference Ireland 2022 will be an event you won’t want to miss. Sign up to attend today.
