Removing the Need to Perform Dangerous Inspections in Semibasements and Reducing Employee Workload
Ryoji Shichinohe from Beverage Manufacturer C was kind enough to answer some of our questions about LiLz Gauge.
Main Theme:
Performing Dangerous Semibasement Inspections Remotely and Reducing the Burden on Employees.
What led to you using LiLz Gauge?
Shichinohe: We wanted to make daily inspections less of a burden for our employees.
We adopted LiLz Gauge for a flowmeter that's in a sort of semibasement area. It's hard to get your footing down there, and to even reach it you need to open a metal hatch and then go down some stairs. It's the sort of place where someone could easily get hurt on the job. We'd been feeling the need to make this process safer, and when one of my coworkers brought in a LiLz Gauge test device we decided to go ahead and install one at the site.

What convinced you to go with LiLz Gauge?
Shichinohe: The fact that we were able to check our meter readings from the office without going down into the semibasement was the main reason. At first, we were a little worried we might have signal problems since the meter's underground, but we've had no issues of the sort and the meter is crystal clear on our devices. Being able to install LiLz Gauge without removing the meter was also a big help; the gauge in question is owned by the water department, so we can't tamper with it.
How has LiLz Gauge helped?
Shichinohe: Well, it's been really easy to use for one thing. One of the best aspects of LiLz Gauge is that it doesn't require you to install a power source.
As it happens, this year we've started using a digital service named i-Reporter to record everything that goes on at the site, but we still use paper for some things. My hope is to eventually move everything over to i-Reporter, and send the images and readings we get from LiLz Gauge to i-Reporter to make our lives even easier.
