Removing friction from your daily life with Systems Thinking

Removing friction from your daily life with Systems Thinking

It’s hard to be productive when you have daily friction in your life. Even the smallest of things.

For example, as materialistic as it sounds, I enjoy 700mls of a ice cold oxyshred at 4am in the morning. It helps with my 20 hour fast and keeps me in the zone, hunger free until 4pm. ??

BUT.

In order for that morning routine to happen I need ice cold ice in the office. So what could I have done? Bring ice in everyday from home ha? No that would now create a secondary process to support the first process of making this morning routine drink.

Made the drink at home and then taken it with me in the morning? No because now that is creating an opportunity for the process to fail, IE. If I leave the drink at home the process has failed VS making the morning office drink in the environment where it will be consumed. (remove failure points from your life)

Could I go and get ice from somewhere else on my way to the office? Could I of just use cold water instead? All of these are adding secondary processes to the first OR do not meet the standard I want.

Instead, I purchased a full blown ice machine and installed it into the office. Every morning ice is ready. I do not need to think about it or wait. It is always running. Expensive, yes. Has it now solved a daily routine process that runs every morning within my life, thus removing that friction from my mornings?

You bet it has.??

And this doesn’t just apply to morning routines and ice machines, I can give you hundreds of examples of where I have eliminated any tiny bit of friction from my life that:

a) stelas my focus, even just for a moment

b) creates unnecessary extra tasks to fix another task.

c) requires me to make a decision in the moment.

You need to machine and engineer everything in life. Across the board. When you apply this to your personal life first, you’re then going to have a new found level of mental bandwidth to then focus and engineer your business like a machine.

When you DO this, your business now runs how you want it to operate rather than it running your life daily. Don’t be a slave to your business, fix your life, fix your ecosystem.
