Removing bubbles and inclusions from the surface of aluminum bars

Aluminum is an extremely abundant metal element on earth, and its reserves rank first among metals. It was not until the end of the 19th century that aluminum emerged as a competitive metal in engineering applications and became popular. It is the raw material for the development of the three major industries of aviation, construction, and automobiles.

The smelting and casting of aluminum bars includes melting, purification, impurity removal, degassing, slag removal and casting processes. Aluminum bars can be divided into 8 categories according to different metal elements: 1000 series, 2000 series, 3000 series, 4000 series, 5000 series, 6000 series,7000 series, 8000 series.

In aluminum bar casting, the following two aspects will affect the quality of aluminum bars.

1. Bubbles on the surface of aluminum bars

The main reason for the formation of bubbles on the surface of aluminum bars is insufficient degassing in the aluminum liquid furnace or undried water in the refractory.

The solution is to strengthen degassing refining and minimize the hydrogen content. The degassing efficiency of AdTech's degassing unit is ≥65%. AdTech's degassing unit has a service life of more than 3 years.

2. Aluminum bars contain inclusions

There are many reasons for slag inclusion in aluminum bars, mainly the following: 1. Oxides and oxide films continuously enter the melt during melting, stirring, and furnace conduction to form slag inclusions. 2. The flow trough, flow channel, and filter box are not clean during casting. 3. The pages are stirred during casting. 4. The flow trough, filter box, etc. are cleaned too early before the end of casting.
