The Global Career Coach is here again with another big bang !!!
Happy New Month Gabby Global Community, How are you doing?
I want to encourage someone reading this article that, you don't have to conclude that there is nothing left to achieve in the remaining days of this year just because we have two months left. Hey darling, there is much more you can achieve in 2 months. You can still land your dream job in this new month, you can still win the grant, you can still get the scholarship, you can still learn that skill and make your first million in one month, don't lose faith, but keep believing, and God will come through for you.
Today I want to share with you things you must remove from your resume if you want to land your dream job before the year is over.
I delivered a client's work last week, it was a CV revamp service for a job in the UK, and just today he shared an amazing testimony. You can check the screenshot below.
Dear Jobseekers! Are you ready to give your resume a much-needed makeover and boost your chances of landing that dream job? Let's dive deep into the must-remove elements that will take your resume from good to outstanding;
Putting a picture might lead to biased decision so most of the people avoid putting their picture. So if you're applying for a job that has nothing to do with your appearance, you're not required to put a picture.
But again you can add your LinkedIn profile link on your resume so if they really want to see your appearance they can check your LinkedIn profile.
Stop using generic statement for your objective Statement, be creative about it. Most people copy and paste word for word from online or some template. The recruiters are familiar with these statements and that could be a turn off seeing the same thing on your CV. Write a good career summary or objective that delivers your elevator pitch. In approximately 3–5 lines, explain why you’re a good fit for the position you’re pursuing by summarizing your relevant qualifications and career achievements.
Your email address should have your name in it not otherwise, I've said this several times on this platform. Whenever possible, create an email address that incorporates your name as it appears on your resume and LinkedIn profile, as well as your credentials.
Do not include on your resume social media accounts that host unprofessional content, do not support your current job goals, and are not regularly updated. If you’re going to include the URL to a social media account on your resume, make sure it reflects your personal brand and serves to demonstrate why you’re qualified for the job.
In addition, create at least one professional online profile on sites like LinkedIn or GitHub (depending on your line of work) and include the link at the top of your resume. If you work in a creative field, consider creating an online portfolio or blog that has a mobile-responsive design so employers can access your site from any device.
It's advisable to hide the full details of your home address for security sake especially if you are base in Nigeria. And sometimes staying at a location with bad reputation reduces the chances of you getting the job. I'll advise you just a simple address e g. "Lagos State, Nigeria."
Whether you are married or not is none of the companies’ business. it's a professional environment not religious institution. They can always ask these things during interview
And Finally, For God's sake??
Do not end you resume like this:
DECLARATION; I hereby declare that the information stated above are correct and up to the best of my knowledge.
Haba ?? This is 2024, please just stop it.
I will stop here for today.
