Remotely Possible: Productivity Can Happen Anywhere

The world has seen drastic changes in how companies operate over the last few years. Just like businesses, individuals have needed to adapt to the recent rapid changes in technology and to sudden world events that have had wide-scale impact.

One of those adjustments is?working from home.?Opportunities to work away from the office have exploded across every industry, and if offered the chance to skip commuting and escape the confines of the office, a majority of workers are eager to take it.

While some companies and their employees are transitioning back to the office or hybrid schedules, many others will continue to work from home for the foreseeable future. Despite some lingering questions for employees and their bosses about the value or challenges of remote working, it can be a beneficial option all round if done in a well-thought-through and disciplined way. If you’re thinking of going remote, here are a few ways to maximize your productivity:

  • Create a designated work area with the equipment you’ll require
  • Set a routine schedule or ‘office hours’, and stick to them (banish social media!)
  • Set boundaries between work and personal time (and communicate these to colleagues and workspace/house-mates)
  • Practice proper ergonomics and create the right atmosphere to ensure a comfortable, motivating work environment
  • Conduct yourself professionally: dress appropriately, honor commitments and behave with respect towards clients and team members
  • Stay connected with your team/company with regular meetings and check-ins
  • Take frequent breaks (especially outside!)
  • Don’t neglect to keep developing your professional skill set
