Remote Work in 2022

Remote Work in 2022

One result of the Covid-19 pandemic was the immediate implementation of working from home in mid-March of 2020. In many cases, the practice has not only continued but further evolved to become corporate acceptance of remote workers at many companies. Although there are still some old-school firms and managers, these too may fall by the wayside more quickly than not.?

The Times, They Are A-Changin'

Since the widespread availability of the vaccine, and the resultant decrease in coronavirus cases, remote working mandates have all but disappeared for most workers in most locations. Flexibility is now on the rise, as are revised policies that allow for remote work. Hybrid work schedules, where office attendance is only expected a few days per week or month, have also gained popularity. Even job postings reflect this change: open positions are now often advertised as on-site, hybrid, or fully remote.

A Place to Call Your Own?

Although working from home can be classified as remote work, not all remote work occurs in a home office; It can happen in a hotel lobby, a coffee shop, or a lakeside cabin. And do you recall the book (or movie) The Lincoln Lawyer? Working in a mobile manner certainly counts as remote work, be it in a car or boat. Overall, it is important that you find a suitable space to work remotely, one that can accommodate your specific needs.

Seeking Balance

What many workers are seeking is work-life balance. This balance is something that millennials have been requesting for years. Remote working tends to offer more choices about when you carry out your work and when you can take an hour to fit in a workout or a cooking class. Just be sure to be productive and meet work expectations as well as deadlines. Besides when or where, how you work is also under your control; the light, temperature, and background music are all up to you. And if you miss the social nature of the old office environment, take advantage of the coworking office spaces that are more available than ever.

Here to Stay

Now that so many workers have experienced the positive side of remote work, many of them aren’t looking to return to the commute or in-office grind anytime soon, if at all. As long as people are getting the job done, it shouldn’t matter if they show up in an office wearing designer duds or if they work on a beach under a big umbrella. For those of us who have been working remotely for many years, the general population now understands how great it can be.
