Remote Sensing and GIS in Peri-Urban

Due to various economic and social factors, urban has reached unexpected levels and the gap between the urban and the rural is getting wider and wider, which made most people looking forward to living in urban areas despite any resulting losses, causing the formation of so-called peri-urban areas. Peri-urban/urban (PUU) change processes are always accompanied by expansion and encroachment on agricultural lands, which directly and indirectly influences the enviro-socioeconomic and institutional conditions.

In this remarkable topic, We have contributed a chapter to the newly released book, "Remote Sensing and GIS in Peri-Urban Research Perspectives on Global Change, Sustainability and Resilience". Our chapter, titled "Peri-urban/urban PUU changes, is it land development or land deterioration? A dynamic analysis study of southeast Alexandria, Mediterranean, using remote sensing and GIS".
