Remote Racing

Well, that is a new record (and not a good one) as it is over a month since my last update!

Two and a half weeks were spent in Scotland and with Stryder renewals due on the 1st September and Bella Cavalla running while I was away, I was flat out before I went and again after I got back.?

I had to spend most of my first day back editing and releasing the podcast and the task list is still very long despite two weeks trying to get it back to manageable levels!

I did manage to get down to see both horses last week (as I needed to speak to both trainers) and the week before, I spent a day at Warwick for their syndicate showcase event.

I am off to Cheltenham next weekend for their first fixture so it must be the jumps season!? If you are at Cheltenham, please come and say hello.

There is plenty to cover in this update in terms of looking back and forward, so I had better get started!

Bella Cavalla

We were on, then off, then on again with Bella Cavalla while I was away and that made for even more work than I would have had if I had been at home.

We finally got Bella Cavalla into a suitable race only for heavy rain to strike the country in the days ahead of the race.? I agreed with trainer, Neil Mulholland, that she would not run as the ground would be too soft and told everyone she would be a non-runner, but we then woke on the day of the race to find that Fontwell were claiming the ground was better than seemed possible and Neil wanted to take Bella to the course to see whether the description was accurate on not.? That left me with several people to call to explain that having cancelled their plans to go racing, they might want to rethink that!

Thankfully (given that several people decided to go racing), the ground seemed OK and Neil was happy to let her take her chance.?

We ended up glad that we had run as Bella Cavalla ran a cracker and probably should have won.? Once in the clear after the last, she made up a lot of ground to only fail by a length in 2nd.

It was fair to say that the peace and tranquility of the Scottish Highlands was disrupted by an excited racing manager and his wife watching the race on a mobile phone!

There is a possible follow-up race for Bella Cavalla next Monday at Plumpton.? This is a 3 mile 0-100 mares hurdle.? She has been entered and is likely to run if the ground is suitable.?

She looks capable of winning soon and now is a good time to get involved.? A 2% share is ￡754 covering all costs to 30th June 2025 and can be paid monthly (just over ￡100 per month from November to June).? There are discounted rates for 5% and 10% shareholders as well, please contact me for details.

Stryder

I visited Stryder last week and he is in good form.? He will reappear on 31st October at Chelmsford.

I am busy renewing him at the moment, so now would be a great time to get involved.

A 2% share of him is ￡104 to purchase with an annual fee of ￡780 covering the period to 31st August 2025 which is ￡78 per month if paid from November to August.? There are discounts for 5% and 10% purchases.

Syndicate Showcases

I went to Warwick on 3rd October for their Syndicate Showcase day where I had a BG Racing trade stand.? It was a fun afternoon chatting to racegoers and I handed out a lot of leaflets so hopefully someone will buy a share or two down the line.

There is another similar event at Exeter next Tuesday (22nd October) and I?will be doing a two-day event at Ascot in November (22nd and 23rd) as well.

Inside The Rails

We released the October Inside The Rails podcast on the 1st of the month.? It was a bit of a race against time as despite an early record, I did not do the edit while I was away and that meant a head down few hours on the 30th September to get it done!? David Letts from Great British Racing (the marketing arm of racing) joined us and was another entertaining guest.

Winners From Our?Stables

Both my trainers had winners back on 16th September when Cabeza De Llave won for Michael Attwater and Watergrange Jack for Neil Mulholland.

Lord Accord made the long trip to Sedgefield very worthwhile on 23rd September when he recorded an excellent win for Neil.

That was it for September but October has begun well for Neil.? On the 3rd, Sunshine Diamond got Neil’s month started with a win at Southwell.??Batwomen followed that win with another 24 hours later and Neil had another win when Double Powerful won his third straight race with a fairly comfortable success on the 6th.

No Worries was the 4th winner in the month for Neil on 8th October and Of Course You Can made it five the next day at Ludlow.

I’m On My Way rounded off an excellent couple of weeks with a win earlier this week.
