[Remote Jobs] The "Small"? Wins Are Actually HUGE!

[Remote Jobs] The "Small" Wins Are Actually HUGE!

Who's ready for this week's exclusive remote jobs preview?!

I've got a lot of cool updates coming soon to help more job seekers find the right remote opportunities and also help companies hire the right people! 2022 is going to be a great year, folks. What are you going to do to make it your defining moment?

As I've been recovering from my ACL surgery, I've noticed more and more how BIG the "small" wins actually are:

  • This week I am finally off crutches (live look at me trying to walk normally this week ??).
  • I'm on the stationary bike doing 8-10 minutes without pain for the first time.
  • I'm making huge leaps in physical therapy sessions, with my mobility and range of motion, and every session I feel more and more confident.

Even 2-3 weeks ago, in the fiery hell of pain and discomfort my knee was feeling, I couldn't imagine what it was like to walk. Fast forward a few short weeks later, and I've totally forgotten what it was like to suffer trying to go to sleep every night, unable to get comfortable. This is how fast things can change!

This is the SAME as your remote job search!

In difficult and discouraging moments, it can be tough to face rejection after rejection. It's hard to see past the present discomfort. But if you're intentional, you put the work in, and you don't give up, things will eventually change for you. And what once felt like a pit of inescapable doom can feel like a distant memory.

If you need some job-seeking inspiration, check out my post from earlier this week with one of my past clients, Nicole, who not only switched industries but overcame a resume gap to find a job and a company she truly loves. This is what happened for her.

During our time together, she did incredibly well at finding the small wins:

  • Getting an actual human response instead of something automated (even if it was a rejection where they'd keep her resume "on file")
  • Pressing the "send" button on a networking message that previously felt so uncomfortable, knowing that the worst-case scenario isn't bad
  • Recording herself practicing her stories and making small improvements articulating her value

Celebrating these small things helps you achieve the grand goal of getting the job. Because if you don't celebrate the process, how can you expect to stay the course? Her company, Connected Accounting is also hiring!

The market is hot ?? and employers are ready to hire top remote talent.

Fantastic article and list! It’s amazing how quickly things can change in the job search. One job search I did it I was completely down on myself, and I was very close to canceling the interview because I couldn’t muster the energy. I ended up taking the interview and it went so well, that on the phone I was invited to an on-site interview. A few days later I was on site, and they ended up giving me an offer the same day. I worked at a company for years and I was the greatest job of my life! Things can change, we’ve got to stay persistent! And we also need to switch up our strategy, if the same thing isn’t working!???
