I've been privileged to help lots of jobseekers land remote jobs over the years. As someone who has been working remotely for over three years, I can practically tell you that getting remote work offers is not as hard, it's just that a lot of jobseeker are not doing it the right way.
Recently, I got two remote jobs which I rejected because of the pay, one of the companies even offered to pay me #200,000 monthly which I declined because I understand my values and worth. While this is okay for some persons as monthly salary, there are some job offers that requires more energy and effort, and would take most of the time, so I strongly believe in getting paid higher for such kind of jobs.
However, today is not about me, it is more about you and helping you land remote job opportunities, but before then, it is very important to identify mistakes to avoid when searching for remote jobs.
Less I forgot, I shared a video on "how to land international remote job opportunities in 2024", I strongly believe the video will open your eyes to the detailed step by step process on how to land your first and many more remote job opportunities either in Nigeria or other foreign countries. You can watch the video here; https://youtu.be/pkGAUKZlSxc?si=WLdAbC0zlcCMb3PK
Here are some mistakes to avoid if you are searching for remote jobs;
1. Forgetting to show your remote work skills: Make sure to highlight your ability to work independently, manage time well, and communicate effectively in a remote setting.
2. Not customizing your applications: Tailor your resume, cover letter, and other documents to match the requirements of each remote job you apply to.
Let me quickly share some amazing testimonies from clients who landed remote jobs;
3. Ignoring remote work-specific needs: Remote jobs often require good communication, self-motivation, and the ability to work with people in different time zones. Show that you meet these needs in your application.
4. Lack of remote work experience: If you haven't worked remotely before, focus on transferable skills like adaptability, self-discipline, and communication, and give examples of how you've used them in any work setting.
5. Applying to every remote job: Instead of applying to every remote job you see, be selective and apply to ones that match your skills and goals.
6. Not networking: Connect with professionals in your field or remote work communities. Attend online events, join relevant groups, and reach out to people who can provide guidance or referrals.

7. Not researching companies: Before applying or interviewing, learn about the company's remote work culture, values, and expectations. This helps you tailor your application and interview responses.
8. Missing remote job platforms: Look for remote job opportunities on specialized remote job boards and websites, as they often have more remote positions available. You can use platforms like Linkedin, just like a client landed 3 remote offers on Linkedin.
9. Forgetting to follow up: After applying, follow up after some time to express your continued interest. Being persistent Hereand proactive can make you stand out.
10. Not preparing for remote interviews: If the interview is online which most of the time will be, practice using video call tools, set up good lighting and sound, and be familiar with remote interview etiquette.
By avoiding these mistakes, you can increase your chances of finding and securing a remote job that matches your skills and goals.
