I’m a big fan of learning organizations!
If we take the word “learn.” It’s a verb. An active verb, which means it’s all about doing. Learning isn’t a spectator sport. You’ve got to dive in.
You can’t learn how to make spaghetti just by reading a recipe. You’ve got to get your hands messy, boil some water, and maybe even deal with a sticky situation or two! The same goes for riding a bicycle. Watching a YouTube video won’t teach you balance—you’ve got to hop on and maybe take a few wobbly rides before you get it right!
So, learning requires action. If you’re just thinking about it or reading about it, you’re only learning about the concept. But to truly know it—to embody it—you’ve got to do it. And this is where the magic happens!
To learn is to pick up something new, but it’s also about building on what you already know. Maybe you’ve made spaghetti a hundred times, but you want to master that perfect al dente. So, you experiment, you tweak, you learn!?
Learning isn’t just about the unknown. It’s about deepening your understanding, refining your skills, and seeing things from a fresh perspective.

And failure, becomes your friend! When you’re learning, mistakes are just part of the process. In fact, they’re often the best teachers. You learn more from a sauce that’s too salty or a bike fall than from getting it right the first time. But this doesn’t mean you should aim to fail all the time. It’s about the right kind of failure: the kind that pushes you forward, not the kind that keeps you stuck.
It is like a laboratory—a place where you can experiment, try new things, and yes, sometimes fail, but in a way that’s safe and productive. In this space, failure isn’t the end; it’s just part of the learning curve. It reminds me of theater!?
So, how do we create these spaces—these learning organizations—where everyone feels safe to explore, experiment, and grow together??
