In this month of Remembrance, which also coincides with the 100th anniversary of the end of the Battle of the Somme, it provides an opportunity to commemorate the Service and sacrifice of those who lost their lives in the battle, to reflect upon the human cost of conflict and to have hope for a more peaceful world. The Royal British Legion has urged us all this year to Rethink Remembrance and remember that, 100 years on, there is a new generation of veterans that need support.
That is why it is so important to us as a business that we have signed the Armed Forces Covenant, which publicly pledges our support to the Armed Forces community and acknowledges our continued support by employing reservists, veterans and military spouses.
As a British Army Veteran myself, I have served in the Armed Forces for over 26 years: 21 years as a Regular Army officer and the last 5 as an Army Reservist, and have served overseas on operational tours and in Defence Diplomacy roles. All of our Directors have Military connections; Vida’s father was a Naval Engineer Commander, David’s father was a Vulcan pilot in the RAF and James’ brother is currently serving as a Royal Marine. Between us, amazingly, we have the full set of Armed Services covered
I am incredibly proud to be part of a business that offers employment to others who have served and continues to support the Armed Forces. The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme recognises businesses that support the armed forces, and who are open to employing reservists, veterans and military spouses, and I am delighted to have been awarded a Silver Award for our continued support and our work as Poppy Factory Mentors and Veteran Charity Trustees.
Developing sustainable & balanced people & businesses. Caring, creative, commercial.
