Remembrance is indeed Important! Take a Pittance of Time.

Hello my dear friends, here we are once again in the week of Remembrance Day. At this time of the year I get to recall all of the celebrations we have during the year here in our unique corner of Okanagan paradise. From Valentine’s Day, through Easter, then on to on to the amazing summers we have, with Victoria Day, Canada Day, and then Labor Day. We are truly blessed.

A major highlight for me is Thanksgiving, as it sets me up with enormous gratitude for this week.

Remembrance Day is indeed special as it causes me to reflect on the sacrifices that the brave men and women who volunteered to defend our Country, principles and values. Here in Canada we are especially vigilant in honoring these very special people. For over 100 years in our recorded history, we have been able to calculate what it has cost our society in terms of souls lost to conflict around the world. What we haven’t been able to calculate, is the incredible value and contribution these brave folks would have had in our world had they lived the extent of their lives at home.

It is for this reason we must honor these brave guys and gals by doing our very best to create a society that would have made them proud. Caring for each other, welcoming the less fortunate, combatting racism and prejudice, sheltering those who need our understanding and compassion, righting injustice wherever it rears its head, and demonstrating to the world that love does indeed conquer fear.

Take what Terry Kelly called a Pittance of Time to reflect for yourself just how very important it is for each and every one of us to honor and salute all who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may have the ability and opportunity to look each other in the eye with uninhibited love and compassion.
