December 14,2023 My dearest father went home to be with his Lord and Saviour. How does one deal with the loss of a parent? The grief is so hard to bear but Daddy dear, I already miss you so much,
Homecoming/Welcome Home
?Today an angel kissed your forehead
And took your spirit's hand
He led you to the banks of Jordan
And into the Promised Land
?
Earthly pain no longer racks you
Hurt's touch you will not feel
For you are safe in the arms of your Saviour
Whistling choruses with angels near
?
Many believers through the ages
Walk you down the Golden Street
Moses and Elijah stand beside you
As you approach your Shepherd's feet
?
Secure in the arms of Jesus
"Well done,my son" you hear
He takes you in His loving arms
And wipes away your tears
?
"Welcome to your heavenly home
Your mansion awaits you here
Friends who came before you
Will guide you over there"
?
Two Jims and Doug step forward
And firmly clasp your hand
They tell you Clyde ,Sven and Boyd are waiting
With Ainsley and his band
?
Kathy and Jean ?advance
for a mighty hug
"Its been a long time Archie
since we've seen your handsome mug"
?
?
Ancestors who clung to the rugged cross
Trials they also went through
"Welcome son,so glad you're here
We have been waiting for you"
The crowd parts slowly
To reveal your dear mother
Who welcomes you now
As a beloved Brother
Your mother–in–law Jessie
Takes you in her embrace
“You fought the good fight
And finished the long race”
Tears from our eyes are flowing
Feeling so empty and alone
But Reuben says the truthful words
*Mommy, Granddaddy has gone HOME"
Safe in the arms of Jesus
Pain you no longer feel
Arthritis and sickness has left you
Like a lamb you spring with zeal
?
Your days will be eternal
Night will never fall
You whistle our Saviour's praises
And dance in His Kingdom Hall
?
The trials of Earth are left behind
Your battle cry expressed
Spreading your arms you smile
"I- am –so- r i ch-ly -blessed"
The Life you Led/The Life you Left Behind
?
Life was hard in Newfoundland
Dads to children were rough
A gentle example you did not have
To break the cycle of being tough
?
Moving from house to house
Your early schooling was few
Numbers and counting were easy
Speaking and bargaining too
?
God's Word was the only book
I ever saw you read

Words on paper were arduous
But your Bible was important indeed
?
You took us to archery
Bought horses ,motorbikes and goats
Jimmy got to go hunting
And we all went to NFLD by boat
?
Every Sunday in the summer
Back to the lakes we would go
Cars ,bikes, horse and friends
You made us with joy overflow
?
A cabin in the valley
We rarely went to see
You encouraged us to study
To work, took us, with you to be
?
You loved to get one over
On your fellow man
A good clean joke was great fun
Especially the one about the fan
?
You took a fan to work one day
Coworkers thought it looked like fun
Innocently ,you spoke to them
“Oh,didn’t the boss buy you one?”
?
Remember the story of Bob Dowie
While building Malagash?
How you told him only by faith
The beams would not downward crash
?
?
You used your skills for God's glory
Malagash and Grace you constructed
But your greatest JOY was a little
Playhouse,for free, you once adjusted
?
?
Your strength was your pride
And down it fell
But through it all
God's Glory you did tell
?
Your example to many
When God gave you a mission
As in hospitals you took
Several prolonged? intermissions
?
"My? Bride"you fondly called
our wonderful Mum
You gave her great bearhugs and
Slapped her on the bum
?
Her kindness and love
You greatly respected
Through your demands
Her patience was perfected
?
Jimmy was "your number one son"
Your pride in him unsurpassed
His character formed by his love of the Lord
Beside you 'til you breathed your ?last
?
Charlene moved far away
But came to visit on a summer day
You smiled and shook your head
As words came into play.
?
Sandra is the creative one.
Preserves and baking on her stove
Fine wine and strong spirits
Are in her treasure trove
?
"Charlene loves sunshine "
You started thinking
"and Sandy makes moonshine"
you quipped while winking
?
?Earthly partings were put
in God's hand for safekeeping
As every visit ended
With Jesus you would be speaking.
?
Daddy , I love you
I'll miss your bear hugs
Memories will be my comfort
Until we meet above
