Remembering Who You Are: Staying Grounded in a Chaotic World

Remembering Who You Are: Staying Grounded in a Chaotic World

We come into this world knowing who we are and what we’re meant to do. We’re born with a purpose, a fire, and a deep connection to our true selves. But then, life happens. The noise, the expectations, the endless external bullshit—we get buried under it all. Slowly but surely, we start to forget that inner knowing, and before we know it, we’re chasing after things that don’t even matter. When I was young, being outdoors, picking flowers, and singing were the things that brought me joy. I have come full circle, back to this place.

The Challenge of Remembering

It’s no secret that this world is loud as hell. Everywhere you turn, there’s another distraction, another demand on your time, another voice telling you who you should be and how you should think. And it’s so easy to get caught up in it. I’ve been there more times than I care to admit—getting lost in the noise, forgetting my power, forgetting who I am and what I’m here to do.

There was a time when I was so deep in the hustle I didn’t even realize how far I’d drifted from my true self. I was running myself ragged, trying to prove something—to myself, others, and the world. I’d forgotten I already knew who I was and buried it under layers of striving and overachieving.

The Wake-Up Calls

My wake-up calls have never been gentle. Life has a way of shaking me to my core when I am not paying attention. I remember a time when I was deep in the grind of building my real estate empire. I was all about building my business, hiring talent, training them, closing deals, and pushing myself to the brink. On the outside, everything looked great—I was successful, making money, and I thought I had it all together. But inside, something wasn’t right.

One night, I sat in my office, staring at all the signs of success around me. But instead of feeling proud or fulfilled, I felt hollow. While building this real estate company had been a vital part of my journey and provided a strong foundation, it wasn’t my full purpose. I had been so caught up in the chase, in proving myself, that I’d lost sight of the deeper work I was meant to be doing. That night, something inside me shifted. I knew I needed to expand beyond where I was, strip away everything that wasn’t fulfilling me, and step into the next chapter of my life. The greatest lesson I learned, was not listening to that voice.I paid dearly! Beyond Limits is the place for entrepreneurs that want to avoid this pitfall and grow with joy and freedom.

Coming Back to the Basics

When the shit hit the fan, I finally stopped chasing and started listening to my soul, everything changed. I remembered that the key isn’t in doing more—it’s in discovering and becoming more of yourself. And for me, that meant getting back to the basics.

  • Nature: I’ve always felt a deep connection to the earth, and when I’m out in nature, I remember who I am. That little tomgirl. There’s no noise out there, just the quiet wisdom of the world reminding me to slow the freak down and breathe.
  • Meditation: I used to think meditation was about quieting my mind, but I’ve realized it’s about reconnecting with myself. Recognizing my own voice. In those quiet moments, I hear my inner voice telling me exactly who I am, what I’m here to do, and what the next right thing is.
  • Mastering My Craft: Coaching isn’t something I do; it’s who I am. When I’m fully engaged in my work—coaching, speaking, learning, practicing yoga, or journaling—I’m reminded of my purpose. This is why I’m here, and everything else falls away when I’m in that flow.
  • Spending Time with Family: My family is my anchor. They remind me of what’s real, what’s important. When I’m with them, I’m not Coach Jenn building a business and impacting lives—I’m just me. And that’s a beautiful thing.
  • Staying in Joy: Here’s the thing—joy isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity. When I’m in joy, I’m in alignment. I’m connected to who I really am, and everything feels lighter and more expansive. Joy is the ultimate reminder that life is meant to be lived, not just endured. It is the absence of fear, doubt, and scarcity.

The Slips and the Comebacks

But let’s be real—it’s not like you wake up one day, remember who you are, and that’s it. Nope, life has a way of throwing curveballs. There have been plenty of times when I’ve slipped back into old patterns—when people pleasing, fear, anxiety, and doubt have taken over. It’s in those moments that I know I’ve forgotten. I’ve let the noise drown out my inner voice.

But here’s the thing—I always come back quickly. I’ve learned that the key isn’t never slipping but knowing how to find your way back. And for me, it’s always the basics that bring me home. Nature, meditation, my work, my family, and joy—they’re my lifelines. Whenever I feel lost, I return to them, and they bring me back to myself within moments.

Final Thoughts

We all come into this world knowing who we are and what we’re meant to do. But life has a way of making us forget. The trick is to have those touchstones—those practices and people that remind us of who we are again and again. And every time you remember, you get stronger, more aligned, more powerful.

So, if you’re feeling lost, overwhelmed, or just plain tired, take a breath. Come back to the basics. Remember who you are.
