Remembering the Ranger

I remember the night the Ocean Ranger went down. I was walking to Memorial University amidst a nasty evening weather wise, unaware how nasty it truly was. I remember the next day hearing the news, and the news of one Derek Escott who had rented the apartment in my parents' home. I remember, at 22, remembering him and his cool car. I remember. These many years later, I am reminded of the mystery that is this life. I am reminded of its often unexpected paths. I am reminded that we far too often walk around presuming we have more time. I am reminded that we far too often concern ourselves with drama that truly does not matter. I am aware of a young life cut short, and a family devastated. I am aware of other stories. Let us Honor those from the Ocean Ranger with continued Commitment to safety at work, and to living our lives in the now. I hear them all whisper, "Carpe diem." In Honor of you Derek.
Peace, passion, purpose and prosperity...
