Remembering our successes

The usual advice I give to my clients is to list their successes in their CVs and mention them in their job interviews. The usual answer I get is "I don't have much success that I can think of". I think we make success too much a big word for us and we tend to forget all the daily successes we have let alone to notice the successes of years of work in a position. It is a great exercise to note down 3 daily successes. That would build the habit of noticing and acknowledging your successes and increase your self-confidence. Here are 25 possible wins to notice as you go through the day suggested by Meg Selig in her article "How to Be More Self-Confident in Just 3 Minutes a Day" on Psychology Today:
1. You made a good decision.
2. You took time to exercise.
3. You felt compassion for yourself when you made a mistake instead of beating yourself up about it.
4. You responded to a situation in a better way than you normally would.
5. You took a break when you got tired instead of pushing yourself in an unhealthy way.
6. You refrained from making a bad situation worse.
7. You helped someone.
8. You refrained from helping someone because you needed to focus on your own projects.
9. You completed or made progress on a project.
10. You decided that something was not worth doing and quit doing it.
11. You persisted with a task, even if it was unpleasant.
12. You did something healthy for your mind, such as meditating for a few minutes when under stress or...doing the Daily Success Review!
13. You were able to find just the right thing to say to a family member, friend, or colleague.
14. You made a mistake and learned from it.
15. You made a mistake and didn't let it ruin your day.
16. You took the initiative to set up a social occasion or strengthen a friendship.
17. You said NO to unreasonable demands or set a boundary that needed to be set.
18. You apologized when you did something wrong and didn't apologize when you didn't.
19. You lived up to your values, even though it was difficult.
20. You set goals for your day and adjusted them when necessary.
21. You got an idea about how to move your life forward in some way.
22. You got an idea about your next work project.
23. You prepared for an event ahead of time so you wouldn't have to rush the next day.
24. You accepted the reality that something couldn't be changed, thus conserving your energy.
25. You paused and reflected on something before you acted, instead of reacting impulsively as usual.
Let's start today the habit of writing 3 successes daily. I give you your first: 1.You read this post and decided to start writing your daily successes :)
