Remembering "Mr. Baseball" Bob Uecker

Remembering "Mr. Baseball" Bob Uecker

I remember the most delightful conversation with Milwaukee Brewers broadcasting legend, Bob Uecker—named by Johnny Carson as “Mr. Baseball”-- during his induction into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2001. I had the great privilege and honor of supervising the elections into the Radio Hall of Fame, when I was with an accounting firm in Chicago at that time.

Uecker died on January 16, 2025. He had a tremendous sense of humor and a sharp wit—repeating his Brewers home run signature call, "Get up! Get up! Get outta here! Gone!” for me several times. A gracious gentleman, who greeted everyone at the induction ceremony with an infectious smile as I recall, will no doubt be remembered as one of the greatest baseball broadcasters of all time.

The passing of an era, I think.
