Remembering MLK Jr.

God bless MLK Jr. From our darkest days arose one of our brightest, shining lights. One of the greatest American leaders, visionaries and heroes.

King was a true optimist and warrior of light, love and peace.?He stands side by side with the founding fathers who shaped the early days of our country.

He?was a visionary whose vision was?deeply rooted in American values.??He believed in America in spite of everything.??He believed in the core values of America?more deeply than those of his oppressors.??His very genius being to use that authority against them.

Every year on this day we get an opportunity to renew our faith in America.??To renew our faith in democracy and freedom. It’s a rare?blend of remorse and pride that we observe simultaneously?one of our countries most horrible and painful times with one of our bravest and most influential leaders.

I’m honored to be able to say that?as a white person I can take part in this.??That one of my heroes shares that other race that my ancestors oppressed. And yet today we honor him, while the countless others that opposed him are forgotten.??

King revolutionized not only our civil liberty but the power of the non-violent, peaceful movement. Like Gandhi and Buddhists and so many others before him he was a warrior of love.

Over and over again he put himself in harms way to stand up for what he believed was right. He was tireless. Courageous. Fearless.

What a legend!

King said that if it weren’t for the darkness there would be no stars.?And so we remember that darkness today and celebrate the progress we have made.

When I reflect on what he achieved, in the face of those insurmountable odds, I realize there is nothing we, living here today, can’t achieve together.

MLK was an optimist and if you want to honor him the best way is do that is to find that positivity in yourself. And use it to create and share your optimistic vision. And to work together with others to realize that vision in the world.??

Remembering, cherishing and celebrating MLK Jr. is in itself exhibiting every bit of what it means to be an American. To be free. To be creating the world we want our kids to inherit.

God bless and big love!??
