Remembering or Hero's
For those of you who do not know me, I am a Son, Brother, Husband, Father & an Old United States Marine!
I have very deep appreciation for the meaning of today “Memorial Day”, a Day that we set aside 150 years ago to honor those that have given the ultimate sacrifice for our Safety & Freedom in this Great Country that we live in, The United States of America!
In 1868, Commander in Chief John A. Logan of the grand Army of the Republic issued what was called General Order Number 11, designating May 30 as a memorial day. On this day at Arlington National Cemetery flowers were laid both Union & Confederate grave sites as one of the first acts of healing from the American Civil War (1861-1865).
Even as a kid, growing up in Michigan, I can remember Memorial Day! My father was the Principal of the school that I attended and from my earliest memories, every Memorial Day we would go out to the local Cemetery to honor the Fallen Hero’s and our School Band would play in full uniform. I became a drummer in the school band because I wanted to be a part of that day and show my respect for the Fallen Hero’s! To this day I still go with my family to the local Cemetery to Honor My Brothers & Sisters that gave all and hope, with all of my heart, that my kids continue to do that same throughout their lives.
I hope and pray that all of you have a very Happy & Safe Memorial Day Weekend with your friends and family!
All I ask is that you take a few mins of your day today to remember those that gave all for us to be Safe & Free in our Great Country, THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA!
