Remembering the Greatest Servant Leader
Matt Rocco
Servant Leadership Pioneer, CRM Cultural Innovator, President and Chief Executive Officer @ Etech Global Services | Customer Relationship Management (CRM).
Over 2,000 years ago the greatest servant leader ever, Jesus Christ, walked this earth.?His influence on this world is reflected in the fact that those who follow his teachings today total over 2.2 billion people or almost 30% of the world population.??As servant leaders, we are called to give to those we serve, not as weakness, but as core to our calling to lead by serving.?
Jesus served those he led.?He invested in each member of his inner team, his disciples.??Scriptures is filled with numerous examples of how Jesus led by serving.?Ultimately, he offered the greatest sacrifice of all – his own life on a cross.?Today we remember that sacrifice delivered over 2,000 years ago this very day – Good Friday.?
?At Etech, we have chosen to embrace the leadership philosophy in which the main goal of the leader is to serve. This is different from traditional leadership where the leader's focus is their own accomplishments and the successes.?A servant leader shares power, puts the needs of their team members first, and helps people develop to perform to their greatest ability.?Servant leadership inverts the norm and puts each team member as the main priority.?Instead of the people working to serve the leader, the leader exists to serve the people.?History demonstrates that this style of leadership will yield incredible and sustainable results for the company, its customers and most importantly, its people.
As I prepare for this Good Friday, I can’t help but think of the life and lessons of the greatest servant leader and how proud I am to be surrounded by so many who embrace the philosophy of leading by serving.?
