Currently, where life is fast paced, and professionals have hundred things on their list to accomplish. You have emails, cell phones and text messages constantly grabbing for your attention. What do you do? How do you stay on top of your game? You stay on top of your game by being COURTEOUS!
First, review which messages are important to your daily life, and reputation, and which are spam.
Then do following:
A Timely Response = Courtesy = Respect = Accountability = Professional Image.
Managing your daily professional communications will pay both long- and short-term dividends.
Promptly responding to all legitimate professional communications — no matter how brief the response is — will help you develop a professional image that will position you as open, honest and responsive.
In my 25 years as an Executive Healthcare Professional Recruiter, I’ve come across potential candidates that possess superb communication skills, attentive to details, have timely responses, and lastly, no matter who the individual is, that they have the respect for another person’s time. By maintaining a professional demeanor, and having respect for your outside relationships, it will prove to be valuable throughout your career. You will be favorably be remembered. Those of you who do not place courtesy on the top of your list will be remembered the most! Not good for your professional advancement.
Executive Recruiters have the ability to change your life in the most dramatic and positive ways. They are always on the lookout for these types of individuals. Our reputation in the recruitment industry relies heavily upon the type and caliber of candidates we are representing to our valued clients.
Executive Recruiters "the keys" we are always looking for . . . The Ideal Candidate:
- Proven Qualifications and Experience for the job!
- Secured Work History
- Professional Demeanor
- Common Courtesy – returning their calls and emails within a 24-hour time frame
- Ability to follow instructions
- Proven work achievements where they have made money, saved money or implemented a positive work tool.
- Lastly, honesty, courteous communication, having a positive demeanor, respect for others and having the courage to say “no” or “yes” will do wonders for your reputation in the professional industry!
The Golden Rule: You are receiving a call from a recruiter because he/she thinks you could be a good fit for a certain position. They may have spoken to you about a potential position, the very least you can do is take a few minutes to return the call or shoot them a quick email to thank them for thinking of you. Much like you were taught by your elders, life it is about treating others like you would want to be treated. This simple action will place you in a positive light with the recruiter, who may one day offer you the job of a lifetime!!
