Few people in the world can have such a tremendous impact on the lives of others as the magnificent hotelier we are discussing today. He was the essence of what it meant to be a nice human being, given his lovely demeanour, infectious smile, and helpful personality.
This man was more than just a hotelier. He was a mentor, a trainer, and a friend to all who had the pleasure of crossing his path. His gentle nature and kind heart were felt by all, and his warmth and generosity knew no bounds.
David was known as the best Concierge of the East, and for good reason. He was charismatic, intelligent, and always ready to serve with a smile on his face.
David and I had a light-hearted competition over the years over who was the most handsome and smart concierge, who was the best at guest handover, and we would frequently argue for our respective domicile states. With the exception of our competitiveness, David was a true friend and a tremendous mentor. All through our congress, we shared accommodations and would regularly share his Old Monk Rum (he would always carry his stock) and Goldflakes, which we savoured over insightful conversations and hearty laughter.
With cancer from November 2022 onwards, our link got deeper; the normal chirpy, Clint Eastwood voice was now more gruffy, but David would always put forward his position and talk even if he was in agony. Don't worry, Sats; I'll be back soon to fix you all and be with you all shortly; this will be over soon. Throughout the years, he won the hearts of people all across the world and forever transformed the concierge profession. Everyone who knew him will miss him because of his boundless energy, excitement, and devotion to his career.
David showed us what genuine friendship entails. As president of the Concierge eastern region chapter, he ran it all by himself. Youngsters adored him because he was always willing to listen, provide assistance, and share his wealth of knowledge and experience. He mentored me and showed me the importance of caring for guests, going above and beyond to make them feel welcome and valued. David's propensity for interpersonal communication extended into his profession. He also developed personal and family bonds with guests and many airline crew members who stayed at his hotel, displaying his ability to connect with a broad range of individuals and forge deep connections.
With his company The Taj Bengal Kolkata where he worked, David was nominated and won the S.T.A.R -Managing Directors Awards more than 12 times. (Or more) His commitment, diligence, and outstanding service to his guest are all recognized by this award. Delivering exceptional service on a consistent basis necessitates considerable effort and commitment, David's nomination for this award demonstrates his commitment to excellence and desire to offer his guests with the finest possible experience. To obtain such continuous praise, he surely was well valued by both his guests and his colleagues.
Those who knew him will never forget the impact he had on their lives. He was a true inspiration, and his legacy will live on for generations to come. He showed us all what it means to be truly great, and we are all better for having known him.
It's hard to imagine a world without David, but his spirit and legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. He was a true professional, an inspiration to us all, and a man of great character and integrity. To David's family, we extend our deepest sympathies and love. Your loss is shared by so many, and we hope that the memories of David's life and legacy will bring you comfort in the days and years to come.
David, my friend, you will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Rest in peace. With love and respect,
Satish
