Remembering...

?Here in Canada, November 11 is our national Remembrance Day where we honour soldiers, families, and citizens in their service of our country and also, I would suggest, the horrible suffering that humans experience during conflicts.

What if we could also remember who we are as human beings? Unerringly, we look for what is different from ourselves in other human beings.

Why don’t we first, look for what is the same or similar? From my viewpoint, we are all human beings that inhabit the same home, this planet we call earth. We seem to forget that.

We all have the right to have differing ideas, opinions, thoughts and feelings. That’s one of the beautiful things about being human. What a boring world it would be if we all thought the same way and undoubtedly, we would have made little progress as a species.

So instead of looking only for differences in others, I would like to invite you to look a little deeper and to listen a little harder to connect with the human being before you.

I would like to invite you to remember. To Remember for today, tomorrow and always that all of us share the same home and to think about how we can all make our home a warm, safe and welcoming place for all.
