Remembering Bill Newill
I just learned the sad news of the passing of Bill Newill, a friend who mentored me in the security industry for more than 30 years. Bill was battling Parkinson's the last several years but was doing well on the medications. Unfortunately, Bill took a dramatic turn for the worse last month and succumbed a couple of days ago. I'm sure many of you knew and appreciated this kind man and respected his technical knowledge. We were kindred spirits who argued about baseball, politics and world affairs but always did it with a smile and cold drink.
Many of you probably knew Bill's incredible bride as well. He and the former Teresa Ryan were soulmates who met in the industry. At the time Terri was a dynamo at Hirch Electronics and Bill was at Secura Key if memory serves me. The two had just celebrated 25 years of marriage this past July. In August Bill was still feeling his oats hiking in Mammoth and cheered on his LA Dodgers as they fought for a pennant.
Bill and Terri was never prouder than late in 2017 when they celebrated a wedding for son Chad and the graduation of their youngest son Ryan from Notre Dame. Ryan and Bill were as close as a dad and son could get. It was a joy to see. All 3 of Bill's children and 3 grand kids will miss this unique man -- I know I will! My heart goes out to Terri, who I have known almost as long as Bill. If industry friends are interested, there will be a celebration of Bill's life on Sunday, November 11th at 2:00 PM at O'Connor Mortuary at 25301 Alicia Parkway in Laguna Hills, CA 92653/
God's speed Bill.
