The Remedy | This Collab Rules

?? CM Rx: On Tuesday, Facebook launched a major redesign to (hopefully) appeal to Gen Z users, aiming to shed its reputation as a platform for boomers. Some key updates include a larger focus on community and entertainment features, including a new "Local" tab, which consolidates information on local activities, Marketplace, and events. Facebook is also enhancing its video content, integrating more short-form videos, live streams, and Reels, and improving the video player in hopes of aligning better with Gen Z's content preferences.

This is a very calculated move by Facebook to stay relevant and appeal to not only Gen Z but generally younger audiences. Gen Z has proven to prefer platforms that offer visual content, fast-paced interactions, and local, personalized experiences. With this redesign, Facebook is slowly backing away from the friends-and-family network and moving towards emphasizing local connections and broader community involvement.

IMO this redesign does look promising but Facebook still has a bit of an "uncool" stench, which may be hard to overcome.?

Crocs via TikTok

?? Spotlight: Crocs

?The YouTube video Shoes?by Liam Kyle Sullivan was one of the first viral sensations I remember from the early days of the internet, and I still find myself quoting it today. Recently, Crocs leaned into internet nostalgia by collaborating with Sullivan to spoof the original video for a new campaign. This revamped version features a fun twist on the iconic dialogue, with various Crocs clogs now in the spotlight. I immediately loved it and shared it with friends who, like me, experienced the Shoes?hype when it first came out.

What I find interesting is how brands are increasingly tapping into nostalgia, which resonates strongly with both Millennials and Gen Z. With Crocs, you'd expect only Millennials to appreciate a 2006 YouTube throwback, but surprisingly, Gen Z seems to be just as excited about it. It feels like the internet is becoming less polished, with a growing appreciation for authenticity, goofiness, and self-expression.
