For most of my adult life, I’ve been involved in searching for, finding and showing some of the best people in the marketplace. I’ve worked with most of the major consulting companies, as well as thousands of start-up businesses, high impact and stressful environments in the UK, Europe, US and Canada.
My role was to short-list the best people for a specific role (recruitment) finding people with the right skills and experience, people that would be capable of doing the role. But clients always wanted more, they wanted people with the right personality and behaviour as well, it was this that set the successful people apart from all the others who just had the right skills and experience.

‘Remarkable People are Hard to Find… But that’s what I DID’
As a head-hunter & executive search consultant, its all about finding remarkable people, people that have huge impact, people with the right behaviour, commitment and have the SMART to get things done.

Part of my job was being able to see & recognise this in people and then shine a light on them, getting then to reposition themselves, who they are and what they have done, how they’ve done it and the outcomes they’ve delivered.? Many of these folks are not necessarily comfortable articulating who they are or blowing their own trumpets. But to get a fair shake they must be seen, heard, liked, known and TRUSTED. If we can do that, they are more likely to get to the front of the queue and that must be the goal.
The job market today is in free-fall as most companies redesign their recruitment processes, cutting across into a more digital model using AI and ATS systems ideally to gain greater efficiency, scalability, and consistency. However, these technologies also pose novel risks, including perpetuating existing biases, digital exclusion, and discriminatory job advertising and targeting.
Today I’m no longer short-listing candidates but I’m still searching for, finding and showing some of the best people in the marketplace, however now I help these people position themselves, and help them get themselves seen, heard, liked, known and TRUSTED.
I help them get their CV or Resume into the right format, helping them set themselves apart from the crowd, helping them show their personality and behaviour as well as what they have done, how they did it and what the outcomes where, as well as show their commitment and demonstrate that they have that SMART. I get them to blow their trumpets in a subtle way, answer some of the questions that hiring managers have and help them get onto the short-list.
