Remain Relevant...Remain Optimistic...Remain Vigilant

The “Anti- AI Guy” A Connection Consigliere - Connecting real life resources with opportunities since 1980
A client of mine (a Senior Partner at PwC) took me to see Bruce Springsteen back in March of this year. I've seen Bruce on any number of occasions...consider him to be a treasure for any of us who've been impacted by his music and mindset but for whatever reasons this show was different. Here was this guy...(even older than I) who played the entire collection of songs from his album The River, which might have been a concert in and of itself then...played an entire other concert all in the same night. Obviously at this point Bruce's shows are legendary so what I'm writing isn't necessarily news. It was for me however, profound and a lesson...I wrote, during the show in the NOTES on my iPhone "remaining relevant" as that was my take-away from it all.
Here was this guy who doesn't need the money or necessarily the adulation doing his very best to REMAIN RELEVANT...I yearn and long and think about and fight to do the same so wanted to learn from the moment.
The show was in March but it wasn't until I read the following (outtake from an interview with President Obama) that I saw a parallel moment for me to learn more...to be "coachable" once again and now thought to share.
There is zero political discourse intended here. I read what's below and was simply impacted by the overall message.
Q: Have we taken a huge step back?
A: "No. I'm somebody who never believes the hype when things are going good and doesn't despair when things don't work out your way. The TRUTH of the matter is that when I got elected, there was still racism and misogyny and, you know, antigay sentiments in America. In the wake of this election, those elements are still there, but it doesn't negate all the progress that's been made. It just means that elements of our culture get amplified sometimes.
But this is a big, complicated country. And history doesn't move in a straight line. It zigs and zags, and it goes backwards and forwards. So you can never just say, "All right, we're finished with that." The battle is to be vigilant, on behalf of of kindness and tolerance and fairness and equality, that's a day-to-day thing that each of us is responsible for. That doesn't change with one election. It's something that has to be tended to all the time and I remain hugely optimistic, partly because of our kids and their generation."
I too will remain hugely optimistic!
I too will remain vigilant on behalf of of kindness and tolerance and fairness and equality...BECAUSE that is a day-to-day thing that each of us is responsible for!
Have a great day y'all!
Be coachable
Remain vigilant on behalf of kindness etc
