Latest Wind Energy Insights
The green transition foresees an increase in the demand for a highly skilled workforce in the wind sector, both offshore and onshore, where safety and efficiency are focal points of operating in these high-risk environments.
Wind energy is expected to play a key part in decarbonization, which will account for a substantial portion of the world's energy needs. The vast expanses of open sea provide ample space for large-scale wind turbine installations, capable of harnessing powerful and consistent wind currents. This additional capacity and its potential scalability place offshore wind as one of the key contributors to meet the global energy demand and the needs of the energy transition.
This remarkable growth underscores the urgent requirement for a proficient workforce, capable of safely and effectively installing and maintaining this expanding fleet. Being a relatively new industry, offshore wind is still behind in developing comprehensive safety standards in terms of quality, health & safety and environment. Creating mutual understanding of safety across regions and offering training programmes of the highest quality is crucial to this rapidly growing industry.
The global wind industry works relentlessly to define the most common industry-specific risks and to provide standards to remove complexity and create a common ground when it comes to safe work conditions. Besides standardizing content, digital tools, and novel training methods - like adaptive learning - are shaping the workforce education within the wind industry.
