Relive the Inspiration: Recap of the Halal In Travel Global Summit 2024!

The 4th Halal in Travel Global Summit 2024 was a huge success, setting new standards for collaboration and innovation in the Halal travel sector. The summit took place from May 28th to May 30th, and it included two virtual days before culminating in an in-person event in Singapore on the third day.

This year's conversations focused on the convergence of technology and Halal tourism, demonstrating how technological breakthroughs may be used to provide immersive and unique experiences for travellers. Expert-led dialogues provided destinations with the information and skills they needed to improve the travel experience for the Muslim community through seamless integration and enriching interactions.

Day 1: The Best Practices in Halal Travel Industry

The conference opened with an inspiring presentation on the RIDA Framework by the CEOs of CrescentRating and HalalTrip, followed by an entertaining speech from Miguel Sanz, CEO of Tourspain. The day was jam-packed with expert sessions on topics like building sustainable destinations, exploring Taiwan as a Muslim-friendly destination, ensuring local communities thrive, best practices in responsible tourism, creating authentic and adventurous experiences for Muslim travelers, using AI to personalize travel, and incorporating immersive gastronomy into travel experiences.

Day 2: AI in Halal Travel Industry

Day 2 of HITGS 2024 was brimming with lively debates and forward-thinking perspectives. It began with an exciting keynote speech from Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, followed by a number of interesting sessions. Highlights included harnessing AI to enhance Halal travel experiences, a lively Big Debate on defining success in Halal tourism, presentations about Spain's appeal as a Muslim-friendly destination, and discussions on ethical AI development, upskilling the Muslim lifestyle industry, and innovative digital marketing strategies.

Day 3: The launch of GMTI 2024

The third day, held in person in Singapore, featured the much-awaited launch of the Mastercard-CrescentRating Global Muslim Travel Index 2024, marking the 9th edition of the GMTI. Check out the full report here.

Day 3: In-person Event

We also commemorated the inaugural HalalTrip Gastronomy Awards, honored the HalalTrip 40 2024 achievers, and held the third Halal In Travel Awards ceremony. GMTI 2024's data and analytics will prepare stakeholders throughout the world for the next stage of growth in the Muslim Travel Market. Day 3 was also attended by key industry heavyweights such as Patricia De Lille, Minister of Tourism for the Republic of South Africa, and Dr. Sandiaga S. Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy for the Republic of Indonesia.
