Religious diversity: Corporate obstacle? Or asset? asks RNS
US companies embrace religious diversity as good for people and for business
In a new article,?RNS reporter Kathryn Post ?observes?that "For decades, there has been an unspoken ban on religious discussion in the workplace. And no wonder: Deeply held beliefs, not to mention religious dress or practices, can become a powder keg in corporate lunchrooms no less than at family gatherings.
"But thanks to the nation’s expanding religious diversity and the recent surge in workplace diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, the business world’s unofficial taboo on religion might be waning. A growing contingent of businesses have begun talking about religion as an asset, rather than a divider. ..."

This faith-friendly trend matters to people of all religions and beliefs, especially on?holy days and season, such as Ramadan, which has just begun. And, as the photo below illustrates, it's not just a month of daytime fasting, but also a month of?nighttime gatherings with family and friends to break the fast after sunset and rise before daybreak for a meal.
Is corporate America ready for Ramadan? It's already underway.
Deseret News reporter Mya Jaradat ?reports in a new article that "Back in 2008, Muslim workers walked out of a meat-packing plant in Greeley, Colorado, because the company did not allow them to take breaks during their holy month of Ramadan for sunset prayers.
"Today, 14 years later, such incidents are almost unheard of, according to Muslim Americans and experts on faith and the workplace."

2 年Thank you Brian for this post. Religious diversity in corporations, IMHO, starts with a simple token of recognition by 1. allowing people of different faith (than Christianity) to take time off for holy day observations - OUTSIDE vacation or personal time blocks allowed by the company, 2. creating space and time to foster inter-faith dialogues, and 3. by including spirituality in the corporate culture.
