After I confirmed my pregnancy, I noticed a sudden change in my body. I’m a lady with a large appetite, but after eating large meals, I began to feel nauseated, experience vomiting, and have chest pains. Food is something I’ve always enjoyed eating, so why the sudden discomfort? I found out the reason behind it.
During pregnancy, as the baby grows in the uterus, it shifts other organs away from their original positions to create enough room for the growing baby. This causes the organs above it, such as the stomach and intestines, to shift upward. The organs on the sides also shift sideways so the uterus can be well accommodated. This is what causes the issue of heartburn.
As the uterus expands, the stomach moves up. After eating your daily meal, this compression on the uterus leaves less room for the stomach to hold food. If overfed, this can cause the woman to feel nauseated or even vomit.
The intestines also get compressed. After food enters the stomach, the intestines are compressed, which reduces the movement of food from the stomach to the intestines for digestion and absorption. This can make the woman feel chest pain, heaviness, and fatigue.
