A Reliable, Economical, and Efficient 24 MW Power Supply In Ivory Coast

"After two years of operation of the 24 MW Modular Power Plant that Altaaqa Global has set up at the SIR, I want to express our total satisfaction with the performance and reliability of this system of electricity production. This is also an opportunity to congratulate Altaaqa Global Energy Services , on the quality of the human resources that have been put in place to support us in the operation of the Modular Power Plant." Tiotioho SORO , Managing Director of Société Ivoirienne de Raffinage .

In January 2020, Altaaqa Global was approached as part of a restricted consultation by the client, SIR (Société Ivoirienne de Raffinage), a refinery that needed a solution to fully power its facilities with a capacity of 24 MW. The main challenge faced by Altaaqa Global in this project was to ensure a continuous and reliable power supply to the refinery facilities, avoiding any micro-outages that could result in significant financial losses. The existing national electricity company faced challenges in meeting this major challenge and that's why it operated as a back-up to Altaaqa Global.

The region experienced a power quality deficit, with the grid struggling to supply consistent and reliable energy, leading to occasional disruptions and instability. Additionally, the refinery needed to modernize outdated components such as capacitor batteries and connection points. Altaaqa Global had to design a solution that could seamlessly integrate with the existing infrastructure and challenges. Added to all this was the arrival of Covid-19.

Altaaqa Global presented a comprehensive solution tailored to the client's needs. The solution included the installation of a 24 MW modular power plant to fully power the refinery facilities. The modular design of the power plant allowed for easy scalability and flexibility, ensuring that the refinery could expand its operations in the future without major infrastructure changes.

Additionally, Altaaqa Global modernized outdated components such as capacitor batteries and connection points, improving the overall efficiency and reliability of the power supply. Despite delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the installation of the modular power plant began in March 2022, and the project is ongoing.

The solution provided by Altaaqa Global has significantly improved the reliability and quality of the power supply to the refinery. The autonomous power generation facility ensures a continuous and stable energy source, mitigating the risks associated with the unreliable national grid. This has allowed the refinery to maintain uninterrupted operations, ensuring operational efficiency and financial stability.

The successful implementation of the mobile power plant has also enabled the refinery to modernize its infrastructure, improving safety standards and reducing risks such as gas losses and fire hazards. The national electricity company continues to provide backup when needed, ensuring a dual-layer of reliability. Overall, the project has been instrumental in ensuring a reliable, economical, and efficient power supply for the client, helping them to remain competitive in the industry.
