I am getting many calls/messages from those who recently lost their jobs and few of them are very worried what will happen to them, how they will survive in life, how they will pay their EMIs and meet monthly expenses. Few of them said that they only know any particular work or can work in that profile and don't know anything else.
My advise to them is that they should not waste their time and energy in worrying for what has already happened rather should come out of their comfort zone which current education and training system has created around and think and work towards their passion or dream and up-skill or re-skill themselves to perform different types of work.
Let's read this story and work on key takeaways:
Once there was a king who received a gift of two magnificent falcons. He gave the precious birds to his head falconer to be trained.
Months passed, and one day the head falconer informed the king that though one of the falcons was flying and soaring high in the sky, the other bird had not moved from its branch since the day it had arrived.
The king presented the task to the member of his court and announced that whosoever will help the other falcon to fly, king will reward that person. Next day, the king was thrilled to see the falcon soaring high above the palace gardens. He said to his court, “Bring me the doer of this miracle.” The doer was a farmer, who came and stood before the king. The king asked him, “How did you make the falcon fly?”
With his head bowed, the farmer said to the king, “It was very easy, your highness. I simply cut the branch where the bird was sitting.”
Moral of the story- Just like a ship is not made for the harbor and the falcon is not designed to sit on the branch, you and I weren’t created for any comfort zones. There is more to life than to settle for the familiar safe zones.
Sometimes we can begin our “flight” with some gentle training. Other times, we need something much more drastic – like our branch cut off, so that we have no other choice but to flap our wings and fly!
Its our duty to help the people around us and any help is useful-sometime moral support, sometime guidance about opportunities available and nothing available, keep doing re-skilling and up-skilling yourself.
