Releasing anxiety in 4 steps!

Releasing anxiety in 4 steps!

How to release anxiety in 4 steps?

Before we talk about the different ways to relieve anxiety, we must understand what anxiety really feels like. Anxiety basically refers to an excessive amount of worry about day-to-day things, extreme fearfulness about future, feelings of irritability, restlessness and fatigue, as well as irrational fears and panic attacks. Anxiety is totally different from stress and burnout resulting from day-to-day hassles of life.

Is anxiety wearing you out? Whether it's losing sleep over a deadline, stressing over a relationship, or constantly fretting about what you should have done or said, anxiety makes life feel like a race from one overwhelming state to the next. Sure, you cannot control anxiety, but no matter how terrifying that sounds, you can help release it yourself. Here are four simple steps that can help you knock out anxiety swiftly and effectively: -

1.     Identify your triggers

In most cases, anxiety issues have certain specific triggers, which may be physical, psychological or emotional in nature. The first step towards relieving yourself from anxiety is to know what causes it in the first place. One method is to maintain a diary of all the events that spark your anxiety episodes. Maintaining a worry journal has not only proven to be an extremely effective method in helping one figure out their triggers, but it also allows one to vent out and release mental pressure.

2.     Change your perception of the anxiety-provoking event

Many times, we get so overwhelmed with anxiety that we fail to look at the whole situation holistically and rationally. At a time like this, it becomes a conscious decision to realize the irrationality and exaggerated approach in our thoughts and actions and know that this is not something everlasting; this is something that we can bring a change in. How we choose to appraise stressful situations and perceive different situations says a lot about the level of anxieties we face and the way we cope with them.

3.     Vent Out

?Significant research has shown how talking about your thoughts and feelings plays an immense role in giving relief from symptoms and distress. No matter how alone you feel, how much you don’t want to bother someone, how self-sufficient you believe you are, always reach out to your friends or families when you feel overwhelmed due to anxiety. Sometimes, just talking does way good than you might think!

4.     Nurture yourself

It is very rightly said that the only person who can make you feel better is YOU. We must take care of ourselves, especially in times of tension. During anxiety, not just your mind, but your body too gets exhausted and degrades. It is important for you to take even the littlest actions to take care of your physical and mental health. Give yourself a break, engage in some self-care, even if it is as simple as getting a good night’s sleep, or talking to an old friend, or listening to some soothing music. Make little efforts for your own betterment and health, and you’ll see how well you are able to cope with stress and anxiety.

It is often said that more than 90% of the things for which people worry, never happen in their life. So people need to stop worrying about things which they presume will happen but never happen in reality.
