We all need a laugh, don't we?
Humour is essential for communication, and there are many health benefits associated with fun and laughter. Through my work with Funny Women CIC I have found many ways to tap into a range of comedy skills and techniques to help build confidence both personally and professionally.
Our popular online Comedy Crash Course is a great 'gateway' and our next one starts in two weeks’ time, from Monday 22nd to Friday 26th April. Enjoy a comedic ‘lunch break’ with us for an hour each day. I'm joined by three other very special facilitators, including a leading social media creator with 3.5 million followers, and together we will take you through the week, as outlined below. This is what one happy participant said about one of our previous courses:
“It was a brilliantly diverse line-up of talented industry professionals who gave us great techniques to try out new ideas while giving constructive and helpful feedback.”
Monday
Day one is all about kickstarting the creative process under my direction. As the founder of Funny Women, I have worked with and launched the careers of thousands of women over the last 20 years and my session will connect you, build your confidence and get your creativity flowing ready for the rest of this amazing week.
Tuesday
On day two Mariana Feijó will be showing you some tips and tricks to punch up your comedy ideas. ?As a queer, Portuguese multidisciplinary artist based in London. Mariana’s practice started from a necessity to learn how to communicate and create community, pushing the boundaries of conventional comedic performance through collaboration and the combining of different art forms.
Wednesday
I'm so excited to have Monica Gaga?back with us for day three’s session about how the principles?of improv can be used as a tool to build on your performance skills. As a British-born black African queer improviser, facilitator, host, performer and producer Monica will engage you in practical exercises to supercharge your comedy and performance.
Thursday
On day four we welcome ‘Mammy Banter’ aka?Serena Terry, winner of the 2023 Funny Women Content Creator Award, for the first time! ?Serena will be sharing how she went from creating online comedy to selling out live stand up shows, amassing over 3.5 million followers across her TikTok, Facebook and Instagram with her hilarious brand of comedy shorts and skits.
Friday?
It’s over to you on day five with an online showcase, where you’ll perform or present your ideas and receive invaluable feedback from facilitators and peers. This is split into two parts with an hour interval 11.00am to 12.00pm & 1.00pm to 2.00pm. All times, UK BST.
Daily sessions are held on Zoom, from 12.00pm to 1.00pm BST Monday to Thursday and recorded should you miss a day.
