RELEASE: Urban Atlantic Selected For The Redevelopment Of Creative Suitland By The Revenue Authority Of Prince George’s County

Largo, MD – The Office of Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks and the Revenue Authority of Prince George’s County are pleased to announce the selection of Urban Atlantic as the developer for the Creative Suitland Arts Center redevelopment project. The award follows a comprehensive evaluation of proposals received in response to a Request for Proposals (RFP) issued for the conceptual site development 4701, 4703, 4707, and 4719 Silver Hill Road.

“The Creative Suitland redevelopment is a transformative project that represents our commitment to building a more vibrant, inclusive, and thriving Prince George’s County,” said Alsobrooks. “This development will not only provide affordable, artist-friendly housing but also create a dynamic space where creativity, culture, and commerce can flourish together. By prioritizing community-centered design and walkability, we are investing in the future of Suitland, strengthening its role as a hub of innovation and opportunity for residents and visitors alike. This project is a testament to what we can achieve when we work collaboratively to enhance the quality of life for our residents.”?

The Development Plan

The redevelopment, a key initiative to enhance community vibrancy and promote regional placemaking, is envisioned as a dynamic mixed-use project combining affordable, artist-friendly, and social entrepreneur housing with vibrant cultural and retail spaces. ?The development plan includes:?

  • A four-story, mixed-income, 200-unit multifamily housing development, with 12 artist studio units dedicated to households earning at or below 60% of the area median income (AMI).
  • Creative spaces including a 12,000 sq. ft. Creative Suitland Arts Center with a black box theater and artist studio spaces.
  • A 13,000 sq. ft. commercial food hall, designed to feature a marketplace, full-service restaurant, farmer’s/artisan market, and a cocktail and wine bar.
  • 260 parking spaces and other community amenities to promote walkability and accessibility along Silver Hill Road.?

With over 20 years of partnership with Prince George’s County, Urban Atlantic has developed more than 2,000 residential units and 720,000 sq. ft. of commercial space in the area. The firm’s notable accomplishments in Prince George’s County include delivering the first one million square feet of the New Carrollton Metro Station Joint Development with WMATA, an overall three million square foot mixed-use development that has seen the completion of Kaiser Permanente’s regional administrative office building, WMATA’s Maryland Headquarters, and 573 units of workforce and market-rate housing.
