Relay Payments' Commitment to Women on International Women’s Day (and Every Day)

As Chief People Officer at Relay Payments , International Women's Day and Women’s History Month holds a lot of significance for me. It's a day to not only celebrate the achievements of women, but also to reflect on the strides we've made towards equality and acknowledge the work that still lies ahead. At Relay, we take great pride in our commitment to fostering an inclusive culture where women thrive, not just on International Women's Day, but every day.

For us at Relay, supporting women is a natural extension of our values, which serve as a guiding light for every decision we make. Our values are:

  1. Invent the future
  2. Own the work
  3. We’re all in it together

These values are designed to create parity for our entire team while emphasizing alignment toward our shared goals. We appreciate that in order to be successful in our industry and disrupt longtime incumbents, we must deliver great products, move quickly, and offer outstanding customer service. We simply cannot do that without an inclusive team that represents our customer base. Without our incredible team of women who bring decades of experience, leadership, technical expertise, product knowledge and profound ideas to our workplace each and every day, I am confident we would not be where we are.?

Inclusivity isn't just a buzzword for us; it's ingrained in the fabric of our company culture. From the moment a woman joins Relay, she's welcomed into an environment that values her unique perspectives, experiences, and contributions. Our hiring practices prioritize equity, ensuring that women have equal opportunities to excel and advance within our organization, as well as equal pay and benefits. I personally review every single offer letter we extend to prospective team members to ensure we are both competitive and equitable for each position, regardless of gender. Additionally, we actively seek out talented women from diverse backgrounds and provide them with the support and resources they need to succeed – at every level.

Our commitment to women goes beyond recruitment. We understand that true inclusivity requires ongoing effort, investment and leading by example. We also know that it’s one thing to talk the talk and another to walk the walk. We’re proud that approximately 40 percent of our executive team at Relay are women, and that we’ve promoted 21 women (approximately 45 percent of our total promotions) into roles with increasing responsibility and higher pay over the last few years. Those numbers are all the more compelling given women make up 32 percent of our headcount globally.?

We believe that inclusion drives innovation. We understand that diverse teams are more creative, more adaptable, and ultimately more successful. That's why we're committed to creating an environment where women feel empowered to bring their whole selves to work, where their voices are heard, and where their ideas are valued.

One of the cornerstones of our inclusive culture is flexibility. We recognize that women often juggle multiple responsibilities, both personally and professionally. Whether it's providing a hybrid office arrangement, offering parental leave policies that support new parents, or creating a supportive network of colleagues who understand the challenges women face, we're committed to ensuring that women can thrive in their careers at Relay.

As we celebrate International Women's Day, I'm filled with gratitude for the incredible women who are a vital part of our community. Their passion, talent, and dedication inspire me every day. But our work is far from over. We must continue championing equality, not just within our own organization, but throughout the industry and beyond. Together, we can create a world where every woman has the opportunity to thrive, both professionally and personally. And at Relay, we're proud to be leading the way towards that brighter future.???
