Relationships.
Dear Essentialists,
Relationships are the most essential thing in life.
Yet, have you ever been surprised to find it's been years since you reached out to a good friend? Have you ever forgotten to stay in touch with someone important in your network? I have done both.
Enter this week's guest: Jordan Harbinger who rebuilt his uber-popular podcast in 11 months. His secret formula? A networking system he has down to a science. Listen and subscribe here.
This week:
1) Identity 5-10 people who really matter to you and add them to a spreadsheet, CRM, or database (Google Sheets and Airtable are great free options).
2) Decide how often you want to check in with them and set recurring calendar reminders.
3) Check in with each of them now! Make notes in the database on your conversations so you know what to reference next time, and follow through when your next calendar reminder pops up.
There are two ways to build relationships. The first is to rely on your own memory. The second is to use a system that remembers for you. Using a system is 10X more effective and uses a tenth of the effort.
Thank you for spending one minute with me this Wednesday.
Greg
p.s. Thank you to Alan S. who wrote to me from, "a wet and windy London" to say, "I have already taken immediate action on the concept of concentric circles. A very simple but hugely effective idea."

Tremendous work, as always. Takes the concept of networking and turns it into the meaningful activity of building and nurturing a professional network. ??

4 年Nothing is more important than investing in your relationships especially those most important to you! I try to keep to a time circle system - invest in your immediate circle daily, invest in the most important people weekly and invest in key relationships monthly. Nothing extravagant is required; a text, an email, a quick call or video call. Don't wait for them! Make time!
