Hey Listeners,
We've been thinking a lot about how 2020 has changed our relationships with people in our lives. Things seem to have gotten even more strained. And many people were not taught how to succeed in their relationships. In this episode, we’re talking about how to be more intentional in the way you connect to those who matter most.
But first, how do we figure out who matters most? Brené Brown has a simple and empowering way for you to decide to whom you should be giving your energy: the 1x1 square exercise.
Here’s how it works:
- Cut a piece of paper out that measures 1 inch by 1 inch.
- Write down the people who matter most to you. Realistically, it shouldn’t be more than 9.
- Do you need to edit this list? Go for it.
- You now have a list of the most important people in your life AND those whose opinions of you matter most. Everyone else’s doesn’t.
At a time when the collective world is experiencing an energy deficit, your 1x1 square acts like your north star so you can be intentional about your energy. In turn, this enables you to be mindful about how you connect with and handle challenges with your 1x1 relationships.
Tune in to hear more information about additional techniques we recommend using such as:
- “Do it now”
- W.A.I.T.
- Ask again
- S.T.O.P.
We can’t wait to hear about how you use these relationship hacks to focus your energy and simplify your life.
