It's another new week and we all are probably running up and down, trying to start the day. When we have a moment let's read this and digest it.
In Marketing and Advertising. There are terms called ' Share of Mind' and 'Share of Voice. Share of Voice for advertisers is basically in lay terms how loud you can be in the market place. We see this a lot in the Telecommunications industry...apart from the creative ads they put out, their media planning is always to dominate every channel that their target audience engages with. If XYZ is buying 3 slots during drive time..then ABC will buy 5 slots during drive time. This is great for massive awareness campaigns and for product launches.
For a Marketing team ' There is share of Mind' and this is where relationship building and emotional affinity to a brand comes in. As a marketer, I don't want to be the loudest, I want to be in your head and mind. I want to inspire loyalty to my brand. Even though ABC is shouting from the roof tops.. it's me you come to first,because we have a relationship. The biggest deals are signed because of relationship. As an account manager, I try to become your friend because when things become a little tense...as all relationships do especially business ones. The special bond we have, sustain us, the trust and integrity. YOUR brand has to stand for something and every marketing tool you have, including advertising must reinforce that brand and sustain that relationship. I am still trying to find out what my personal brand is.. You can help in the comment section with that. .So while we go about our business today..remember to keep building relationships and keep building trust. Integrity is key.
