Relating AI Construct to a Non-Techie…

I had a friend ask me to explain "AI."?? As I started to explain Ingestion, Training, Inference, LLMs, etc… I received the thousand-yard stare.?? So, I figured I would try again without all the industry jargon first, then relate the concepts and terms once there was an established baseline. I thought I'd share.

Here goes…

There are 3 primary phases to the AI Construct.

I'm going to use the self-driving car example.

Ok, now that we have a basic understanding of the three phases. We'll map it back to some of the terminology used in AI.??

You'll hear a term like "Hallucinations," what is that, and why? With insufficient, incorrect, or old intel, the AI Models may respond with weird and wildly incorrect answers. This is often called "Hallucinations."? You might think, "This AI Model must be crazy if it thinks this is the answer…"? This is why new learnings (from Step 3/Inference) and new data must be used to re-train? AI Models to avoid this AI drift known as "Hallucination."
