Welcome to Figured OUT, the new Newsletter and Magazine from weinvolve, where we involve people, clients and companies in co-creating and building value-added products and services within intersections. We help explorers, heart-led entrepreneurs, and corporate warriors to reinvent themselves and their businesses discover their strengths, connect with their clients on a meaningful level to collaborate and co-create WOW products and experiences, and pivot and reinvent their lives, careers, and businesses. We innovate to create profits that benefit people and the planet while making more money than traditional bottom-line focused companies.?

Changing the way we do business to change the world.

Our company was created just as the Corona pandemic hit. We had to reinvent and pivot fast when a significant contract fell through due to lockdowns. I have been mastering the field of reinvention and working in the change, transformation and innovation space for 15 years. So, while it was inconvenient, this need to scramble and think again wouldn’t shut us down.?

However, we noticed that many other people and companies were struggling with the loss of “business as usual.” So, we decided to help them. It was a time to help people unconditionally, so we designed the Act of Kindness-a free reinvention crowdsulting program.?

We are on a mission to change the way we make money. We believe that if we change our business paradigm, we change the world. We support the race to the top through the creation of meaningful innovations. People over profit? Why do we have to choose? Because of our approach, people often think we should run as a charity. But we create companies that make money while delivering value to people. We don’t believe it should be a choice between doing good and making money.

Yves Portenier was faced with closing his treasured integrated design studio or finding a way to make it work. Through co-creative work with us during our original #ActofKindness 60-Day Challenge and beyond, Yves realised there was no need to separate doing good and making money. “Thanks to the work with Wioletta, we brought the two brands Twist and Sweet Rebels together,” he says, “and we just show Twist the company with an integrated design studio under one brand.”?

Our programs are designed to build on what you have to help you future-proof your career, business, or organisation by developing your creativity and flexibility and growing your skills for the future.

Developing Skills of the Future

But learning and developing skills don’t have to be complicated or tedious. We bake fun and adventure into our experiential learning because we know that’s how people absorb and remember new information best; when they are engaged.

We took our children skiing during corona when all the ski lifts were closed. At first, we tried walking up the slopes to ski back down. But if you have, or even know, children, I’m sure you can imagine how that went. The first slope was an hour's walk to the top. Our kids had only ever been skiing with the chair lift that came and carried them to the top of the hill. They were not impressed with the concept of walking for an hour to ski back down the slope once. When the second slope involved a two-hour walk, we had to get inventive and create all kinds of games along the way, and they still found the climb very tiring.

We could have given up and gone home. Or we could have told the children they had had it easy and encouraged them to persevere with the long climbs. Instead, we chose to reinvent the skiing experience for them. So, instead of walking up the long slopes, we found a bobsleigh and made a slide. The slide was okay but not great. So we extended it to make a longer ride. Then we fixed a mat under the sledge to make it go faster.?

The kids had a great time, and Christophe and I had to test it out. We created unforgettable memories as a family, not just of the sledging but the whole process of experimenting and figuring out how to improve the ride.

My girls are also fans of Pippi Longstocking (Pippi L?ngstrump in Swedish), a colourful children’s fictional character in a series of books written by Astrid Lindgren.?They love Pippi because she is creative. She's the strongest. She believes in herself and knows she can do anything. In the movie based on the books, Pippi has to rescue her father. She sets off in an air balloon that crashes, builds a plane, and then moves into a boat, which gets stolen, and so on. She never loses focus on what she wants; she just changes her approach and keeps figuring it out.??

That’s what building your skills for the future does for you. It gives you the confidence to know that you can figure it out. No matter what comes, you know you can deal with it.

No More Business as Usual

We know that “business as usual” is a myth. We have no choice but to change, evolve, and be ok with reinventing. Yet we want the “old normal” back.

The workplace has changed. Employee attitudes have changed. Consumer choices and priorities have shifted. What is impacting these global behaviour changes? How do leaders overcome their challenges to continue moving toward their stakeholders’ and clients’ shifting goals? Those are some of the topics we will be covering.??

How do we use innovation and creativity in daily life? Creativity is not about artistic abilities but how we solve problems and navigate into the future. The new normal is about figuring things out in every part of our lives and being ok with it.?

Why Figured OUT?

We say anything is possible; we only need to figure it out. At weinvolve, we fuse Human-Centred Design, social sciences, behavioural economics, and psychology with agile methodology and business innovation. We work in the intersection between human value hacking and experience design to co-create meaningful, extraordinary experiences and turn them into irresistible offers.?

That’s why, after consulting with our clients, we chose Figured OUT as the newsletter and magazine name.

The magazine aims to provoke thinking, inspire reinvention, and help people navigate an uncertain future. We will be talking to inspiring people worldwide and sharing their ideas on running and doing business.

We will be talking to university professors like Jim Friedman about transformation, innovation and creativity, venture capitalists like Nicholas Burer about what makes a business worth investing in, and Global AI Influencers like Spiros Margaris about leadership. We are always focused on creativity, innovation and working in the intersections to bring out the best in people and businesses.?

Because the best businesses, Unicorns (the ones that create over a billion in value in their first five years), are made in the intersections where people and technology, new and old, the expected and novel, meet. Airbnb exists at the corner of hotel and home, Uber at the meeting between car and taxi. LIME at the crossroads between Trotti and public transport. Tomorrow's leaders will build the next unicorns in intersections.?

Creativity, in essence, tapping into collective intelligence, is taking two or more existing ideas and fusing them into something new. Something that might be beautiful, functional, and bring value to the world. Or it might be ugly, impractical and ultimately useless.?

That's what you will find in the Figured OUT newsletter and magazine. I will be interviewing everyone from university professors, investors, entrepreneurs, coaches, mentors, corporate warriors and leaders in all fields and sharing their insights with you. In the magazine, you will find the interviews, creativity tools, and details of how you can get involved with weinvolve and start figuring things out for yourself.?

I’m excited about what is to come and look forward to sharing the journey with you.
