Reinventing Group Data Collection

Reinventing Group Data Collection

In June, 2020, Smartspeed expert, Alex Campanella and Senior Sports Scientist, Dan Duffield held a live webinar to review using Smartabase Apps and other integrations to make the most of data collection and interpretation. Today, I would like to focus on our newest addition, the Smartabase Kiosk App.

The Smartabase Kiosk app means your organisation can make use of a shared access point for Smartabase. With the app, you can set up a kiosk device for people in your organisation to quickly and easily input data such as session attendance and details, availability and wellness. In the past, organisations used tedious systems such as excel to input data for large scale events like combines. The problem that was then faced was that results and suggestions could take up to a week to get back to the athletes. The Smartabase Kiosk app solves that problem with instantaneous feedback and the option for automation.

The kiosk app allows for questionnaires to be put onto a tablet for multi-athlete data entry. This helps to engage groups of people and build a compliance culture with easy on-site data entry in one place, making data collection and interpretation effortless.

I want to relate this back to a blog post written by Fusion Sport's own, Mike Compton, where he writes about the importance of using data insights to drive and encourage athlete rehydration. He recommends by using a weigh-in, weigh-out form for the beginning and end of a session, keeping in mind that every team member will train and and experience fluid loss rate differently, a coach can determine their rehydration needs which will in turn, aid in decreasing the chance of dehydration related sickness or injury.

By implementing and using an athlete management system with an app like the Smartabase Kiosk to collect the weigh-in and weigh-out data then you can create instant feedback for each person and encourage compliance.
