Reinventing Advertising and Ad tech

Reinventing Advertising and Ad tech

Context:?

Half of all ads are effective, we just don’t know which half. Well, that ratio is about to be halved again.?

Don’t let the search wars hurt your business. Microsoft may offer free answers to lure users away from Google, but can you survive a 75% loss of traffic for the next few years???

Strategies need to change and it’s critical. ChatGPT has already scanned the existing web and some of your users are already reading some of your content on BING and or ChatGPT.?

I’m not confident today’s Adverting and SEO industry can adjust

- TV ads on youtube will feed the LLM?

- Microsites will feed the LLM?

- Websites will feed the LLM

- Ad buying on sites where the traffic is down 75%

- Ad buying around the chrome of the LLM, will be very competitive and extremely limited inventory

- SEO feeds the LLM and reduces the number of clicks?

LLMs appear to be great for the user but will cut deep for the content providers and advertisers. As I mentioned yesterday the paywall might be an option, but if your traffic drops by 75% who’s going to greenlight/extend the marketing budgets?

Options

  1. Buy the recommendation. I can see a new advertising cloud that’s matching answers to ads. This seems reasonable for the biggest players, but it’s going to kill the majority of small businesses and artists.
  2. Use generative AI to create microsites. This is already happening, just watch TikTok for 5min. The anyone-can-create quality nightmare of the ’90s is back, hello clipart, which you can buy on your fav. NFT platforms, uggggggg)?

LLM Prompt:

I'm concerned LLM (large language models) are going to reduce my web traffic and cost me money, what should I do?

ChatGPT example

It’s understandable to be concerned about the potential impact of LLMs on your website’s traffic and revenue. However, it’s important to keep in mind that LLMs can also bring new visitors to your site by helping them discover relevant content.

To help mitigate any negative effects on your web traffic, here are a few things you can consider:

  1. 1 Optimize your content for search engines: LLMs use natural language processing to understand the intent behind search queries, so make sure your content is optimized for relevant keywords and topics.
  2. Build your brand and reputation: Establishing your brand and reputation as a trustworthy and authoritative source of information can help increase your website’s visibility and attract more visitors.
  3. Leverage social media and other marketing channels: Promoting your content through social media and other marketing channels can help you reach new audiences and drive more traffic to your site.
  4. Consider using paid advertising: Paid advertising can help you reach more people and drive traffic to your site, but it may require a financial investment.
  5. Keep an eye on your website analytics: Regularly monitoring your website’s traffic and engagement metrics can help you identify any changes in traffic patterns and adjust your strategy accordingly.

I'm fascinated by the LLM suggesting business as usual.

Question

I’m curious about what you think. if you have thoughts on how to save more than 1 industry from massive layoffs, lets talk.

* PS: I had to share this via an article today, becuase i ran past the text limit of posts.
