Reinvent Yourself

Read a powerful quote in the book "The Invincible Company" authored by Alex Osterwalder, Yves Pigneur, Fred Etiemble, and Alan Smith

An organization that constantly reinvents itself before it becomes obsolete. The Invincible Company explores the future, while excelling at exploiting the present. It cultivates an innovation and execution culture that lives in harmony under the same roof. It competes on superior business models and transcends traditional industry boundaries.

When I read this repeatedly, I realized that this applies to each one of us as individual professionals. What does reinventing require us to do?

  • Think and Try different ways of doing what we do
  • Learn from experience to either reinforce or course correct

Do you realize that you would become "obsolete" if you do not reinvent your self? I am reminded of the famous Peter's Principle.

People in a hierarchy tend to rise to their "level of incompetence" -- Laurence J. Peter
