The Reimbursement Coding Coordinator works under the direction of the Health Care Compliance Officer and assists as a lead role in the management/direction of the Reimbursement Coders and their coding activities/daily operations which includes workflow, coding issues, and education. Oversees departmental chart audits, produces audit reports, develops educational presentations on coding results and provides that education to the MSP Chairs, Administrators, and individual providers as needed. Researches information on coding and billing changes from the payers and shares that information with the appropriate staff members. Duties & Responsibilities

Oversees the external chart audit process performed by CIOX. This includes audits of providers and of Reimbursement Coding Representatives and Specialists. Develops complex reports and audit reviews as needed or requested, researches and recommends coding or billing changes related to coding staff, medical departments, and/or providers. Meets with and provides education to UICOMP medical departments/groups or individual providers as needed to affect coding accuracy and shares findings from CIOX audits with the specific department and with the Health Care Compliance Officer. Creates analytical coding presentations for the MSP chairs, Administrators, medical providers, and other coders as needed. Develops agendas and leads monthly coder meetings with all UICOMP coders. May participate in MSP Chair or Administrator meetings as needed as well as participating in regular Medical Billing, and coding meetings. Investigates reimbursement issues pertaining to new services and providers. Generates and disburses coder productivity reports for Medical Billing and other departmental coders. Keeps abreast of policy changes required by State and Federal reimbursement programs. Monitors payer changes/updates and provides notification to affected personnel on a routine basis. Addresses inquiries from coders and physicians as needed providing expertise and guidance. Maintains information in and submits fees for new charges for the electronic medical record system. Collaborates with coders for the efficient operation of the workflow in coding work queues. Assists with coding as needed. Monitors and recommends procedural changes to be made in the electronic charge capture process in regards to charge warnings, claims submission, edits, etc. Performs other duties as assigned.
